Beautiful Monterey Bay

Today (2. February 2016) we met on a parking lot on 7:45am to get ready for the 2 and a half hour ride to Monterey Bay that started at 8 o’clock. We finally arrived at 10:30 and we were really happy to get out of the car. The first thing I noticed was the beautiful nature and the scenic view you had while watching the sea from the cliffs. The only bad thing I noticed was the rainy and cloudy weather because  everything was muddy. At 10:55 we started a guided tour which basically meant a lot of walking. The guide told us to not touch any plants because one of them the poison oak is very poisonous. At first we went trough the coastal scrub which had many different small plants like bushes. After that we went into an area were only trees grow because there taking the water and the sunlight away from the little plants. Some of those trees like the moderate Zypress are pretty rare. The guide told us that there are many animals living in that area. Some of them are deer, mountain lions, coyotes and the dusky footed wood rat. After that we came to a cliff area were we could see tight pools. At that place the guide told us that the cliffs in this area exist since 80 million years. The best thing about the cliffs were the trees that grew on stone. After that we got to a place where we could see the so called Sea lion rock. Its called Sea lion rock because usually there many sea lions sitting on it. At the same place we saw otters at 11:50. A thing that I noticed while I was looking around was that many trees didn’t have leaves on them. At 12:05 our tour around Monterey bay ended. After the tour we went to an pier where we had 1 and an half hour of free time to grab some food and get some souvenirs. We left the pier at 3pm and arrived in Pleasanton at 5:30. Thatwas the end of our trip so everybody got home. In the end I would say that the trip was very interesting and it was great fun.                                                                                                                           Kevin                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Here are some pictures from Montorey bay:                                                       DSCN0838 DSCN0842 DSCN0850 DSCN0854 DSCN0858 DSCN0869 DSCN0883 DSCN0891 DSCN0896
